23rd Annual Provincetown Film Festival

Join us for ten days of unflinching cinema, JUNE 16th- 25th, at the 23rd ANNUAL PROVINCETOWN FILM FESTIVAL 2021. This year will be a multi-dimensional festival, with dozens of program offerings, virtual screenings, PFFtalks, outdoor screenings, and VIP experiences exclusive to pass holders. This year we honor Richard Linklater with our Annual Filmmaker on the Edge Award, Riz Ahmed with Excellence in Acting, and Natalie Morales with the Next Wave Award. Choose from live outdoor screenings if you’re in town, or stay in the comfort of your home and enjoy films virtually. All films and events will be reserved in advance with e-tickets and limited seating for a safe and environmentally responsible festival.

IN THE HEIGHTS

Lights up on Washington Heights…the scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better… “IN THE HEIGHTS”

LANGUAGE LESSONS

When Adam’s (Mark Duplass) husband surprises him with weekly Spanish lessons, he’s unsure about where or how this new element will fit into his already structured life. But when tragedy strikes, his Spanish teacher, Cariño (Natalie Morales), becomes a lifeline he didn’t know he needed. Adam develops an unexpected and complicated emotional bond with Cariño—but do you really know someone just because you’ve experienced a… “LANGUAGE LESSONS”

BEING BEBE

Marshall Ngwa (a.k.a. renowned drag performer BeBe Zahara Benet) came to the United States from homophobic Cameroon with dreams of a better life, and became the first winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2009. BEING BEBE follows Marshall’s remarkable immigrant journey from the earliest days of his amateur drag performance career in Minneapolis, circa 2006, to his emergence as one of the leading artists in… “BEING BEBE”

ABOUT THE PROVINCETOWN FILM FESTIVAL

The Provincetown Film Festival (PFF) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to showcasing new achievements in independent film and honoring the work of emerging as well as acclaimed directors, producers and actors. PIFF is committed to serving its communities who are often outside of the mainstream, in the margins, or otherwise underserved, but have a voice critical to the evolution of artistic expression. Now in it’s 23rd successful year, PIFF has permanently established itself as the largest cultural event in lower Cape Cod and Provincetown's premier cultural event, attracting 10,000 plus film-goers, movie buffs, and arts patrons. This 10-day festival showcases over 80 American and international independent narrative, documentary and animated features and shorts as well as panel discussions and special events.
