Fishermen live a life that’s deeply connected to nature, shaped by the rhythm of the tides, the temperament of the sea, and the unpredictability of the catch. Their work is both physically demanding and emotionally rewarding, driven more by passion than profit. THE HAND THAT HOLDS THE LINE shines a light on the unique experiences of Cape Cod commercial fishermen—including those based in Provincetown—who have devoted their lives to one of the most challenging and dangerous professions in the world. Cape Cod-based director Geoff Bassett spent over one hundred hours with these local fishermen, capturing their stories and depicting their multi-generational traditions and culture of oyster farming and deep-sea fishing as a valued way of life.
Producer Kim Roderiques, and film participants Chris Townsend and Jesse Rose are scheduled to attend.
