Frequently Asked Questions

Three of the festival’s screening venues are located within walking distance of each other in Provincetown. They are Waters Edge Cinema at Whalers Wharf, 237 Commercial Street, Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street, and the Art House, 214 Commercial Street. The fourth venue is Wellfleet Preservation Hall, 335 Main Street in Wellfleet.

All of our venues are ADA compliant.

Most films are not yet rated and we are unable to advise on appropriate content. Please be sure to read film descriptions carefully – viewer discretion is advised.

A Ticket allows the holder access to the screening printed on said ticket. A ticket will have the film title, date, time and venue information printed on it. Advance tickets are sold online, over the phone, or, beginning June 1, at the box office until one hour before scheduled film/event start time. At that point, any remaining tickets must be purchased at the door.

Tickets are available until 1 hour before scheduled film/event start time via the festival website, festival box office (beginning June 1), or over phone toll-free with VISA, MASTERCARD or AMERICAN EXPRESS (866-811-4111).

Tickets can be purchased by phone toll-free at 866-811-4111 or online at www.ptownfilm.org/festival. Advance or same day tickets can be purchased on the web or by phone until 1 hour prior to a screening/event, subject to availability. Less than 1 hour to show time, tickets are available at the screening/event venue only. There is no student discount for RUSH ticket sales.

Yes! On the day of the screening, tickets are available for purchase at the festival box office until 1 hour before scheduled screening/event start time, subject to availability. If day-of-show tickets are no longer available, RUSH tickets may be purchased at the screening/event venue, subject to availability.

Rush tickets are sold to the Rush Line 5 minutes prior to show time at the Theater Manager’s discretion at the screening venue. If a film is on RUSH status, it means that all the advance tickets for that screening have been sold. All Pass Holders and Ticket Holders in line are seated up until 15 minutes prior to the screening. 5 minutes before show time any available seats are sold to the RUSH patrons on a first-come first-serve basis.

No. Advance tickets are available online or at the Festival Box Office at The Commons, 46 Bradford street, until 1 hour before scheduled film/event start time. Within one hour of show time, rush tickets may be available at the venue.

Students with a valid Student ID may purchase tickets to any screening/event with a 10% discount. Discounted tickets MUST be purchased in person at the festival box office.

No. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges are permitted.

Ticket packages can be redeemed at the Festival Box Office and/or online in advance. Be sure to log into our website with the email used to purchase your ticket package, or contact boxoffice@ptownfilm.org for assistance. Ticket packages cannot be redeemed at the door. If you haven’t reserved a ticket in advance, you would need to purchase a rush ticket at the door.

You must be logged into our website with the same email you used to purchase the pass. Click on the person icon at the top right of calendar.

TIP – Before you begin, review the schedule and make a list of what you want to see. Cart window will time out after a 25 minutes of inactivity.

  1. Login to by clicking on the person icon at the top right of the calendar and selecting SIGN IN.
  2. If you haven’t yet created a username and password, you can enter your member ID or pass ID. These can be found in your confirmation email.
  3. When prompted, create a username and password associated with your account. The system will allow you to enter your username or email address once you have created your online account.
  4. Select the film you’re interested in and choose pass redemption to add them to your cart.
  5. When you’re done adding tickets to your cart, proceed to checkout.

No. Pass holders and ticket holders must be in line at least 15 MINUTES prior to showtime or seats may be released to others. Priority line entry for pass holders begins 30 minutes prior to showtime.

A Pass (Anchor, Monument, Lighthouse, Harbor, Town Hall, Party, Press, Filmmaker) is a credential that allows the bearer certain privileges. Pass privileges are outlined on the back of each pass. PIFF refers to a badge as the physical representation of a pass. To see the different Pass types, click here.

All passes and tickets can be picked up at the Festival Box Office located at The Commons, 46 Bradford Street beginning Monday, June 15th, 2020. Will call tickets begins June 1st at Waters Edge Cinema, 237 Commercial Street, 3rd floor.

A limited amount of passes are available while supplies last.

Opening and Closing Night screenings are signature festival events with exciting guests at PIFF’s premier venue, Town Hall. All screenings require a ticket reserved in advance. Even if you have a festival pass.

The Opening & Closing Night parties follow the Opening & Closing Night screenings and are free for PFS members and pass holders. Please note that you must be 21+ to enter. Tickets to the Opening Night Party at the Crown & Anchor and to the Closing Night Party at Spindler’s can be purchased at the door or online in advance.

While PIFF does not offer a festival shuttle, our three main screening venues are all within a 5-10 minute walk from each other. Please see any festival representative if you need assistance getting a cab or trolley to your venue.

No, Movie Pass is not accepted at any festival venue.

You can pick up your tickets at the Festival Box Office during open business hours. E-Ticket Patrons may print their tickets (or save as PDF to your phone) and bring them directly to the venue without pickup at the Box Office!
