PIFF Streaming FAQ

How does PIFF virtual film festival work?
Once you purchase a ticket or pass, you will receive an email confirmation with a streaming link. After you click that link, you will be brought to our streaming portal login page. Please enter your ticket ID or pass credentials and password.

How do I watch the film? Do I need to download an app?
Click on the link in your email confirmation and watch on any device connected to the internet. We recommend using the latest web browser and closing other devices in your home connected to wifi.

Can I watch from any country?
PIFF 2021 Streaming Films are restricted to viewing in the U.S. due to distributor agreements.

Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket?
All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges are permitted.

I bought a ticket for PIFF virtual film festival. When can I stream the film?
You may stream your film any time from Opening Night, Wednesday, June 16th at 6:00pm through Friday, June 25th at 11:59pm. You will only be able to watch once, so make sure you’ve got your popcorn and are ready to watch the whole film. 

Can I pause and rewind?
Yes, you will have 24 hours to complete your viewing. You can only start the film once, so make sure you have your popcorn ready!

What is a Streaming Pass?
A streaming pass is a credential that allows you to log in, browse and stream as many films as you’d like. PIFF All Access Streaming Pass will NOT work at the drive-in and is ONLY for streaming films and events. To learn more about passes click here.

I bought an All Access Streaming Pass. How do I redeem my tickets?

Choose sign in with your number
  1. Login here and enter your pass number found in your pass purchase confirmation email. (See figure above).
  2. Click the menu in the top left corner and select 2021 PIFF Streaming to see a list of films.
  3. Choose one of the films and hit Click to Stream button.

What happens if I forget my password?
Use the password reset option on the login page to reset your password. You will need access to the e-mail address you use to log in.

Is there a limited time to purchase a pass?
There are a limited amount of passes available to purchase, however passes are available to purchase now and throughout festival dates while supplies last.

What are the system requirements?
You can watch content on PCs running Windows 7+, and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+. You can also watch films on Android tablets and phones using Chrome, and on iPhones and iPads using Safari.

What are the requirements for Windows computers?
Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.

What are the requirements for Mac computers?
Mac OSX 10.12 or later
. Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser.

Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?
Yes, you can watch content using Safari on iOS 11.2 or later. Please note that you must have “Screen Mirroring” turned off for content to play.

Can I watch content on my Android Device?
Yes, you can watch content using Chrome on Android 6.0 or later. 

Can I Chromecast content?
You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices by selecting the cast button in the bottom right-hand side of the player. 

Can I AirPlay to my AppleTV?
You can AirPlay from most browsers if you have Apple TV by selecting the cast button in the bottom right-hand side of the player.

Can I Mirror my iPhone or iPad to play on my TV?
Yes, but you must have Apple TV do to so.

  1. Connect your iOS device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
  2. Open your Control Center by swiping up from the bottom
  3. Tap Screen Mirroring.
  4. Select your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV from the list.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?
We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on wifi, try moving closer to your router.

I followed the directions, but I am still having problems playing the film. What should I do?
Try using a different browser. Some sites do not work with Safari. If you are using Safari as your web browser, try switching to Chrome or Firefox. If you are still having issues, please email boxoffice@ptownfilm.org for help.
