When can I buy tickets?
Tickets are available to PFS members and PIFF pass holders on May 17th at 10:00am EST (Provincetown time). During this period, anyone with a pass or membership may reserve tickets to both virtual and in-person screenings. Pass holders can redeem tickets included with their pass, and members can get discounted tickets. Everyone else has to wait until June 1st at 10:00am to buy any remaining tickets.
Will there be tickets sold at door?
No. All festival film screenings and events will be reserved in advance with e-tickets and limited seating for a safe and environmentally responsible festival.
What are the venues and capacities?
Waters Edge Cinema (our home base) and the Wellfleet Drive-In are the two main venues this year. PIFF and its venues are following all lawfully required local and state COVID-19 health & safety protocols. These guidelines will be regularly adjusted and updated according to the CDC, the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health, and the Provincetown Health Dept.
Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket?
All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
How do I get tickets?
Visit our festival and events page and select a film you’d like to see. A pop-up dialog will ask if you’re a member or pass holder. Choosing YES will allow you to enter your member or pass number found in the confirmation email when you purchased your pass or membership and use any benefits and discounts available to you.
Select the number of tickets you would like and ADD to your cart.
Next, choose your delivery method. Choose “Attach to my pass” if you’d like all your tickets visible when your pass is scanned for entry. PIFF2021 is a completely contactless festival, and all In Person screenings will require an eTicket which you can save to your mobile device, print at home to bring with you, or have sent to your email.
To keep shopping, click on the left-hand menu and choose 21 PIFF FIlms or 21 Festival Events and add more tickets to your cart.
When you’re ready to check out, click the shopping cart in the top right corner of your screen and enter payment information. Be sure to save your email confirmation.

Virtual screenings start opening night of the festival, June 16th at 6:00pm. At that time, you’ll be able to browse through films, purchase tickets, and click to stream. Conversations are only available virtually and begin at noon on Saturday, June 19th.
Can virtual screenings sell out?
Yes. There are a limited number of tickets and passes available to purchase. Due to restrictions set by film distributors, some films may have limited availability based on the number of total views or the viewer’s location, even for streaming content.
What is a Streaming Pass?
A streaming pass is a credential that allows you to log in, browse and stream as many films as you’d like. PIFF All Access Streaming Pass will NOT work at the drive-in and is ONLY for streaming films and events. To learn more about passes click here.

How do I watch the film? Do I need to download an app?
Click on the link in your email confirmation and watch on any device connected to the internet. We recommend using the latest version of your web browser and taking other devices offline.
Can I watch from any country or state?
PIFF 2021 Streaming Films are restricted to viewing in the U.S. due to distributor agreements. (SUMMER OF SOUL is restricted to MA, RI, CT, VT, NH, ME, NY, NJ)
I bought a ticket for PIFF virtual film festival. When can I stream the film?
You may stream your film any time from Opening Night, Wednesday, June 16th at 6:00pm through Friday, June 25th at 11:59pm or until a view cap is reached. Films can be streamed once at any time throughout the festival, in the U.S. only. Due to restrictions set by film distributors, some films may have limited availability based on the number of total views or the viewer’s location, even for streaming content.
Can I pause and rewind?
Yes. Once you begin watching, you will have 48 hours to complete your viewing. You can only start the film once, so make sure you have your popcorn ready!
I bought a streaming pass. How do I get virtual tickets?
- Login here and enter your pass number found in your pass purchase confirmation email. (See figure above).
- Click the menu in the top left corner and select 21 PIFF Films.
- Choose one of the films and hit BUY TICKET to reveal the pass benefit, and click YES to use your pass.
4. Select Virtual Pass Redemption $0.00 price.
5. If you select “watch on another device”, you will be sent a link. Open the streaming link on the device you wish to use.

What are the system requirements?
You can watch content on PCs running Windows 7+, and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+. You can also watch films on Android tablets and phones using Chrome, and on iPhones and iPads using Safari.
What are the requirements for Windows computers?
Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.
What are the requirements for Mac computers?
Mac OSX 10.12 or later. Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser.
Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?
Yes, you can watch content using Safari on iOS 11.2 or later. Please note that you must have “Screen Mirroring” turned off for content to play.
Can I watch content on my Android Device?
Yes, you can watch content using Chrome on Android 6.0 or later.
Can I Chromecast content?
You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices by selecting the cast button in the bottom right-hand side of the player.
Can I AirPlay to my AppleTV?
You can AirPlay from most browsers if you have Apple TV by selecting the cast button in the bottom right-hand side of the player.
Can I Mirror my iPhone or iPad to play on my TV?
Yes, but you must have Apple TV do to so.
- Connect your iOS device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Open your Control Center by swiping up from the bottom
- Tap Screen Mirroring.
- Select your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV from the list.
Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?
We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on wifi, try moving closer to your router.
I followed the directions, but I am still having problems playing the film. What should I do?
Try using a different browser. Some sites do not work with Safari. If you are using Safari as your web browser, try switching to Chrome or Firefox. If you are still having issues, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for help.
