PIFF’s Next Wave Award was launched in 2017 to recognize artists who have exciting and distinctive voices, take artistic risks, and have a passionate commitment to independent film. Past honorees include Aubrey Plaza, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Jillian Bell—and we’re thrilled to honor Mya Taylor this year! Mya burst on the scene in 2015 with her star turn in Sean Baker’s TANGERINE. Her acclaimed performance netted her the Breakthrough Performance honor at the Gotham Awards and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress. Mya’s performance in STAGE MOTHER further solidifies her as a formidable talent who will be delighting us for years to come.
